Here’s one I’d never heard before. According to the RedTape Chronicles, a customer got a marketing email from his credit card company. He doesn’t like marketing emails, so he emailed them back, asking to be removed from the mailing list.
Huh?
Capital One’s response to the customer’s request said, in part
We bring these offers to customers as part of our customer agreement and therefore do not provide a means to prevent this valuable information from reaching them.
The valuable information that the credit card holder couldn’t do without? A balance transfer offer.
